Thursday at last

But instead of driving home (probably a good thing, given the heavy rain between BR and GR), I'm staying overnight for a composition committee meeting tomorrow at 8 a.m. Tonight I'm going to grab a quick bite with a couple of colleagues, and then I'll settle in for a book-reading evening. Music on the radio, the next chapter of In Cold Blood, early to bed and early to rise.

NASA is going to crash a couple of rockets into the moon tomorrow morning. Weird, huh? I understand that they're going to try to see whether there is ice in the dust cloud, but what if they knock it off kilter? Anybody who has ever bowled knows how easy it is to send a ball spinning in the wrong direction. Mostly, though, it really makes the moon a much less romantic sign in the night sky, knowing that it's being stabbed in the guts with a couple of rockets.

Classes were great today. Some days, I'm really on fire. :-) But I was discussing stuff that I love to talk about, so everything went well.
