I've been in contact with one of the "popular" girls from my 1969 graduating class, and she told me that Becky joins Kay, Beverly, Ollie Faye, and John as people in our class who have died. There may be others. I hope not. It makes me feel really old, and I can't help wondering how many more will be dead by our fiftieth anniversary in ten years.
I also heard from one of my former Mizzou professors that a woman I was in grad school with (Pam) has pancreatic cancer. She is apparently very ill and unable to work.
There is a little injured bird outside on my deck this morning. (Yes, I'm home from Big Rapids.) Maybe the super-aggressive blue jays injured it? I don't know.
Simon was so glad to see me. He stayed cuddled in my lap as much as he could. I was exhausted, though, and my legs were aching, so I went to bed early. Unfortunately, I slept only sporadically because my legs, especially my right hip, ached so much. Sitting (which I do a lot of on Wednesday) seems to make my problem worse. Then, of course, I had the long drive home yesterday.
Tomorrow (Saturday) is the day we'll be riding the mystery train, and I can hardly wait. It will be so much fun!
