Featherbed

I added the "featherbed" to my full-size mattress, and now it's so high that I need to climb into bed with a ladder. It had better be comfortable since I'm risking a broken neck sleeping on it. Shades of Carol Burnett and "The Princess and the Pea."

I got here in BR a little before noon and met with one of the pre-pharmacy students. I have totally no clue what I'm doing, but I've got to help them by at least signing off on their plans for next semester. Then I spent hours filing and sorting and tossing in an effort to find the lost class evaluations. No luck, but I did find last year's. Maybe if I photocopy those, no one will notice. If they do, I can pretend ignorance. That sort of thing just doesn't mean that much to me. I hardly ever look at them. It's not that I don't care. Not really. I'm just too aware of how really meaningless such evaluations are.

I've got a headache, probably from the dust I disturbed trying to find the evaluations. I had a headache yesterday, too, since I was looking for the evals at home amid the boxes stacked in my office. Esteemed Spouse went out and bought a big shredder, which I filled (having already filled the older smaller one). And still it doesn't look like I've touched anything. I'm such a pack rat.

It's silly but I've finally figured out how to file. A new manila folder for every piece of paper, alphabetized. Okay, sometimes I can put several items in one folder. One of my favorite lines from a Janet Evanovich book refers to protagonist Stephanie Plum on her knees, singing the alphabet song, i.e., filing.

We talked to Daniel last night. He was taking a walk. Stephen wasn't too happy with him after Daniel decided to wash a couple of pillows in their washing machine. Of course the pillows burst and ruined the machine. Daniel didn't mention it, but then, that is not surprising. It wouldn't occur to him that he screwed up. Everything turned out okay, eventually, so no big deal, right?

My sons. Sigh.
