post dental

I had more dental work done yesterday. Since the gorgeous Dr. Ted has closed the office near us, I had to drive 20 minutes to the other office, where it's harder to park. The office is nicer, even has a flat-screen tv, but it's not as homey as the other office. It took nearly an hour to work on the teeth we'd specified, and my gums are all torn up, as is my lower lip. For the rest of the day, I had a terrible headache.

Then I woke up this morning far too early with heartburn and headache. Already I can tell it's going to be "one of those days," even though the weather is better. Esteemed Spouse changed his golf date to tomorrow, when I'll be gone most of the day anyway, so we spent some chat time this morning. He's driving down to Louisiana this coming weekend so he can be there for his mother's hip-replacement surgery on the 18th, so I'll once again be alone. I've got to do a New Faculty session on the 18th, so that's a day wasted.

He got a bit irritated with me because I complained about how often his BFF called yesterday. Five times. Five times, that man called, often back to back. They are on this search committee together, so "it's work." Yeah. It's bromance, I tell him. He agrees that BFF is a pest and an irritant, but he does nothing to stop it. I think he's kind of scared of this guy. As long as this guy is in your corner, you're okay, but if he turns against you--well, read "frenemies" again.

I feel like going back to bed, but there's work to do. Miles to go before I sleep, etc.

Today's photo is a studio portrait that my husband took of his mother when she was about 60. She'll be 83 this year and she's still beautiful.
