My baby brother Delmer, AKA "Sam," is 45 years old today. He's a grandfather already and has been for some years now. Isn't he a youthful grandpa? Of course, this photo was made several years ago, but he doesn't look much different now. He emails me and contacts me on Facebook pretty regularly, so we actually have more of a relationship now than we had when we were younger. I remember once that I'd come home from college for the weekend, and as usual, I was telling him what to do. He got angry and told me he wished I'd go back to college. Anyway, I miss him. I miss all of my family.
I'm avoiding work by hanging around on the computer with my blogs, Facebook, and Google searches. On one of my professional listservs, a post noted that in China, internet addiction was considered a pathology, and they are beating people as a form of punishment. I probably deserve a good beating.
I'm having lunch with Sarah later, so at least I'm getting out of the house while my spouse is galivanting around Chicago. It will be good to see my friend. I don't see too many people from Grand Valley anymore. She's almost the only one. I guess you could count my spouse, but he isn't in the Writing Department.
