A few days ago, Consumers Energy left a message on our answering machine that said the power would be out today, beginning at 9 a.m. It is now 11:15, and so far, no outage. We're putting everything on hold, fearing that the power will go out when we're in the middle of something, so if this blog is strangely unfinished, you'll know what happened. We don't want to go anywhere, despite needing to do some grocery shopping, for fear we won't be able to get the garage door open when we return. I'm avoiding working on my class plans since I don't want to have to start all over again if the outage causes problems. (Any old excuse will do, right?:-)
It's incredibly foggy today. Looks like those tv shots of Beijing. Fortunately, no smell, no acrid taste. Just cool and damp. It's so foggy it's hard to see the other side of our small pond.
I got up early so I could make coffee before the power went out. (Yes, I'm back to drinking coffee, just not a lot of it, like I had been doing.) My husband made sure he checked his email and got some bills mailed off. Now we're just sitting and waiting for the lights to go out.
