My attic fan is humming, the sun is shining, and we still have a few days in the weather forecast of temperatures in the high 80s and maybe even as high as 90. So far this year, we've had only two days of 90 degrees, so it's been a cool summer. I certainly haven't minded that, but now that September is beginning tomorrow, I'm eager to savor as many hot days as I can.
We've been rushing around to get the living room (technically, the den) set up again, now that we have the tv over the fireplace. We helped my friend Sarah set up the 50-inch tv in her tiny house, where (of course) it dominates. (Her two teenage daughters didn't seem to mind!) Now we're trying to make our furniture work in the space again. Alas, we had to purchase something to put the TiVo and DVR machines on. If Esteemed Spouse had his way, we'd go chrome and glass, so we compromised with a part-wood, part frosted glass unit. I wish I had time to finish the rearranging, but in a short while, I need to finish my class prep.
I feel sad. The semester is about to begin, I'll be spending the middle of the week away from my husband and favorite fuzzy friend (Simon), and the way I live will be seriously altered. It could be worse, of course. I could have had to take a job so far away that I'd see my spouse only two or three times a semester. (I'm SO glad I didn't take the job in Louisiana a couple of years ago.) And I doubt I'll have time to blog except on weekends. Oh, well. What must be done must be done.
