It rained during the night, and presumably will rain again later in the week. It's warm, though, and humid, so maybe there's a last gasp left of summer. We officially begin autumn tomorrow, so maybe this is Michigan's version of Indian Summer.
We talked with Older Son for a long time yesterday. They enjoyed their trip to N.O., especially the food. He praised a smoked sausage po boy as the best sandwich he'd ever eaten. Ah, I know what it means to miss New Orleans. But he reminded me that the weather lacks something. It was "cut me off a slab of that air" while he was there. They toured the French Quarter, took streetcar rides, ate beignets and drank cafe au lait and otherwise did the tourist things.
We went to Sam's Club yesterday afternoon. No real reason. Just a desire to get out of the house. I got some vitamins in bulk there, as well as a big bunch of Lean Pockets. I've grown curiously addicted to them. It's my essentially lazy hate-to-cook nature.
Esteemed Spouse is busy trying to TiVo all the new programs. He wants us to replace the televisions in our offices with little flat screen ones. I can think of a thousand things I want and need more, but he'll get that "I must have new electronics" bug up his butt, and he won't rest until he gets his way. We did get little web cams at Office Depot that we're going to try out this week.
We're going to hold off on the granite countertops. Two reasons: we would like to get a sale or discount price, and reviews of Home Depot's installation of granite countertops haven't been good. Oh, well. The coffee-stained laminate will have to last a few more days, weeks, months, years.
No communication with younger son. I did read in Ellie's blog that her son is in basic training and undergoing all the physical challenges therein. My heart goes out to her for what must be a mother's greatest worry.
Guess I'd better get busy. It is Monday, after all.
