Making progress

I finally got my new sewing machine and thus far, I love it. It does the stuff my old machine would do (the one I had and used for so long), and it's even easier to do it. It's hard to move backward, to go from a machine that will do all sorts of things to one that does hardly any of them.

My tummy is a bit upset today, so I've been spending much of the morning either in the bathroom or napping. Last night we finally got the basement put back in order (there is a little left to go), so now I have no excuse for not using the pool table as my large flat surface to cut out patterns on. (Don't worry, pool purists! I have a cardboard board to lay on the pool table felt so no harm will occur.)

My Esteemed Spouse is off playing golf today, so I'm just taking it easy and dabbling around in the new Word 2010 that he installed on my computer yesterday. So far I don't see any major differences, but I'm sure they're lying in wait, ready to aggravate me.

My younger son is flying to Fayetteville on the 14th and will join his brother and us in our postponed trip to Louisiana. We'll be on the road on my birthday, it looks like. Oh, well. Daniel has been talking about future plans: either attending school in California in order to become a chef, or returning to Columbia, MO, to apprentice with a man he knows who is a silversmith and makes jewelry. I vote for the latter, but we don't dare say one way or the other. He'd be sure to do the opposite.

I got up about 5:45 when my husband got up to go play golf, and my little naps in the recliner have left me feeling groggy and muddled. So I'll end with posting this photo that I took from my friend Jennifer Parsons:
