The boys are home

At last, Stephen and Daniel are back in Fayetteville! Stephen left Fayetteville for a 7 a.m. flight to Sacramento on Monday. Daniel picked him up at the airport, and they immediately began the long drive back. They got home last night about midnight, so in essence, it was a 2 1/2 day drive. I'm so glad they're back and that Daniel will now be closer. His plans are to apprentice with a silversmith he knows up in Columbia, Missouri. He's known this man for years. He's the father of one of Daniel's friends.

Our landline telephone is still out. The last call we got (which I did not answer) was at 9 a.m. yesterday morning. It was a telemarketer who has been bugging us for days. I recognized the number, so I didn't pick up. They never leave a message. Then yesterday afternoon, I noticed that the in-use light was blinking on the phone in the den. At first we thought one of the phones was off the hook. (How's that for an old-fashioned phrase?) We checked, and no, that wasn't the problem. Esteemed Spouse called AT&T and a recorded message said the problem would be fixed by NEXT Wednesday. There has been construction work in the area, so I wonder if that had something to do with it. I worry that my department chair might need to call. I suppose I ought to email the office and give them my cell number.... Or not. I am so NOT ready to rejoin the working world.

My husband's sister-in-law has gotten all "natural" and whole-food, health-food conscious and subscribes to this guy's website (Mercola). Apparently this dude has only now heard about the theory that people can be too dumb to know how dumb they are (something I learned about at least 15 years ago). His "take" on it, though, is that educated people are the victims of this problem because they refuse to learn (i.e., believe in without critical analysis) mystical crap that people like him believe in. Gimme a break. I've sworn off responding to this woman's posts on facebook, or else I'd say something to her. Especially since I know she puts up that garbage just to poke at me!

Today's photo is my son Stephen with my nephew Tommy. They have always been close, and it delighted me to see how they talked for hours when we were at Tommy's house.
