I drove up to Big Rapids last night because of the predicted heavy snow. It hasn't really snowed too heavily up here, but supposedly the snow that has fallen is wet and slippery. Not enough snow to cancel classes, but way too much to make me happy. It was kind of nice as I drove up to see how much snow had melted. It was almost balmy when I got here about 5:15. I didn't even have my coat on over my sweater. I unloaded the car and worked for a while.
I woke up around 3:30 to go to the bathroom and saw that snow had begun to fall. There doesn't seem to be an extraordinary amount so far. I wouldn't say it is more than a couple of inches. The picture today is one I took with my cell phone from my front door. It's the back of the church that is adjacent to the apartment building. Note the icicles hanging from the building. The red minivan is parked right beneath them.
I dreamed about Daniel often last night. It seems that I dream about Daniel virtually every night. Last night he had moved in with us and was asking me to cut his hair for him. He currently wears it about shoulder length. At least it's blond again instead of that horrible dyed black straw.
I'm meeting my friend Betty for lunch in about an hour, barring misfortune trying to get to the restaurant. I do so hate driving in snow, but from the grinding noises outside, it sounds like the plows are actively trying to get the roads clear.
Once again, the weekend was not productive. I seem obsessed with crocheting lately. It helps my mind to relax and keeps my hands busy. Still, I don't think my students would accept afghans in lieu of graded work.
I've already had one student email me about her grandfather's funeral, which is coincidentally on the day of the midterm. Yeah. Right. Like I've never heard THAT one before. Geez.
