How lovely are thy branches.
Please note the lovely fleur de lis that tops the tree. This is the one that I bought at Hobby Lobby. It was black metal with glitter embedded, and that just seemed too dark, so I painted it gold and added more gold glitter. Perfect. Of course, once that went on the tree (first thing, not last thing), I wanted my tree to be a vision in gold, so I put on only gold balls and gold ribbons, ignoring the hundreds of ornaments that I regularly use, and even some new ones that I bought recently. I plan to use some of them as decor elsewhere in the house. Oh, I am just going crazy for Christmas this year. I haven't seen my sons in nearly a year, so this Christmas is special.
I've spent a little time each day working on my arts and crafts, and the time spent is a joy that cannot be equaled. The time passes in a flash, and when it's passed, I have achieved relaxation that helps me function for the rest of the day. I even eat less because my stress level is down.
We're going out into the fray soon to head to Bed, Bath, N Beyond. I'm so very glad we didn't try getting out yesterday. There was a power failure on 28th Street that affected many of the stores for HOURS, forcing a number of them to close. Traffic lights were out, as well. Talk about bad timing....
I worked quite a bit on the kitchen yesterday, washing down the cabinets and mopping the sticky floor. That poor wooden floor. I don't know why in the world anyone would put a wooden floor in a kitchen. I'm tempted to replace it with black and white tiles. Heresy, I know, but it's too hard to keep that floor clean. It's stained from mildew or something from the previous owners, and we need to have it sanded and restained and finished. Maybe in the summer...?
