Coffee Quest

Okay, we used the Bunn for a long time, and we never did get happy with it. I liked the thermal carafe, and I liked that I had coffee in such a short time, but the machine itself is unattractive and it required too much coffee to make the brew strong enough. Recently I bought a little personal-use Mr. Coffee for my apartment, and the coffee was so darned good, I began to miss having such flavor.

So last night we bought another coffee maker. It's a brew station made by Cuisinart, with no carafe to deal with. So far, so good. I'll report more on it later. We paid more for it than we should have--I actually had picked up the Hamilton Beach brand for forty dollars less--but the Cuisinart had stainless steel where the Hamilton Beach had plastic. After all the hoopla about plastic in baby bottles and water bottles being dangerous, and then when Simon's vet said to switch him to ceramic rather than plastic food and water dishes because of his chin rash, the Esteemed Spouse and I are trying to eliminate some of the plastic in our lives.

I slept badly last night, probably because we tested out the coffee maker after supper. When will I ever learn....

I ordered some offensive Christmas cards (just a few) for certain relatives who shall remain nameless. The cover has one of these traditional photos of Jesus, and written over his head are the words "Liberal Jew." I may never send the cards, but if I do, I'd better plan on that bridge staying burned. Regardless of how true it is, anything that questions or threatens my relatives' dogmatic ideas is sure to cause a stink. I love CafePress.com for all my liberal propaganda merchandise. :-)

I also bought some more traditional cards at Cost Plus World Market, one of my favorite stores. Let's hope I get up the energy to address and send them this year.
