Halloween is over

We had quite a few trick-or-treaters last night, despite the damp and windy conditions. However, we didn't give out even half the candy, so now we have to deal with what to do with the remainder. Usually we bring it to school for our students and colleagues.

Today we went to Home Depot and ordered our new countertop. It's black granite (look, not real) Corian, with an inset white sink. Not fancy. We did buy a new faucet that looks a lot like the old one. The installers should phone tomorrow to set up a time to come out to do the template. It will be a marked improvement over the stained pale blue laminate that we've endured for the last eight years.

While at Home Depot, we salivated over the new refrigerators that have two freezer drawers at the bottom beneath the French doors of the upper refrigerator.

We're buying three airplane tickets for our two sons and one daughter-in-law to fly up during the week before Christmas. That will be Christmas for everyone since each ticket will be a minimum of $400. I hope that they won't feel disappointed with not getting a lot of other gifts.

Since we'll be having company for Christmas for the first time in years, we need to decorate and get a new tree. Esteemed Spouse sold our last artificial trees, or else gave them away. I don't recall which. I'd love to have a really tall tree in the foyer, since it is open to the second floor. Maybe a nine-foot tree.
