I awoke to rain this morning, but it did not rain on me during my walk to or from class, nor on the drive home. However, once I reached Grand Rapids, there were some traffic lights out because it had stormed much more here. However, now I'm home, awaiting pizza delivery (not our usual since they were affected by our power outage), and delighted to have my feet up.
I had a near-death experience yesterday when a car nearly t-boned me. I was turning left from the street into the driveway at the apartment, and a car didn't see me and zoomed around on the right, past the truck that had politely allowed me to turn left in front of him. This car came extremely close to hitting me. It would have totaled the car because that car was flooring it to make the traffic light.
Simon was happy to see me, as was the Esteemed Spouse. While I was gone, the bedroom tv went out partially. So of course, that was an emergency, and he rushed around and bought a new tv. Got news for you, love. If the washer or dryer or refrigerator goes out, that's an emergency. We can live without a television in the bedroom. After all, we have a tv in the den, one in each of our offices, and one downstairs in the basement.
I am exhausted. My day began when I awoke at 5:45 a.m. and it's been nearly nonstop since. I taught my four classes and developed my usual aching feet. Then during the drive home (all 66 miles) I kept feeling that I wasn't as alert as I could be. Fortunately, coffee was awaiting me when I got home, and then we took a brief nap on the sofa. Now we're watching the news and waiting for Jets Pizza. Shortly we'll catch up on some recorded tv programs, and I'll probably go to bed early, the way I usually do on Thursday nights. Lazy, lethargic, and content.
