Today is the anniversary of my father's death. He died slightly before midnight on Monday, September 20, 1988. I still miss him and I still dream about him.
The new television series start tonight, except on my limited channel capabilities in Big Rapids, I don't get many of the channels. I'm thrilled that I actually have internet tonight. I usually have it at the beginning of the week, but by Wednesday, it's gone. I don't know why.
The Saints are playing tonight. I can't get that channel either, but my older son is going to keep me posted via text messages. His wife made gumbo tonight in preparation for the game. I had a microwave pizza. Yum yum.
I've gone without my surgical support hose for three days now, and my legs are aching and twitchy tonight. The problem is that the hose compress my big toenail, especially the one on my left foot, and I begin to limp because it's so painful. My toenail feels bent under, and a red spot appears midway on my big toenail. It hurts like heck, so I decided to see if I could stand going without the leg support. It's six of one and half a dozen of the other.
I went to the dentist today for my cleaning. She noticed that I was a bit more sensitive than I usually am. I've stopped using the toothpaste for sensitive teeth, but I guess I need to return to it. One thing that I'm proud of doing is maintaining my dental health. I wish my sisters had done the same. Both of them look like paintings I've seen of 18th century whores: no teeth except for a couple of rotten stubs here and there. The hygienist used a new type of camera that shows where cavities are likely to develop because of bacterial action. (She was quick to tell me that the FDA had approved of this new device.) Fortunately, she said that these would be merely "areas that we would watch." I don't want Dr. Ted drilling on healthy teeth on the basis of some newfangled gadget that lights up red and yellow to indicate bacterial action. I suspect that "bacterial action" might just exist wherever the heck they wanted it to exist.
I was a lazy woman over the weekend. It rained so much Saturday that we slouched around all day in our pajamas. Sunday we went to the baby shower and had a good time. Lots of new babies and one very pregnant woman who will have a baby in the next couple of weeks or so. Our contractor-to-be insisted he will have some numbers for us in the next few days. I'm eager to get started on the sunroom.
Tomorrow is Tuesday, my heaviest work day. Groan. No, I'm not ready. Already I'm behind with grading, despite my resolutions and best intentions. Why does my blog page keep jumping to some place that I'm not typing and suddenly inserting words into sentences that are already complete? Weird.
