Yesterday I was busy with first a dental appointment (cavity filled) and then my annual eye exam. Somehow since I had seen her last April 2009, Dr. Henry had had a baby girl and gotten married, not sure in which order. She was gaga over her new little girl, born December 17, and named Alexandra Elizabeth. The new husband is quite a bit older than Dr. Henry. She's 41 and he's 54. I'm glad that she has had a chance to have happiness. When I first met her, she was grieving over the death of her fiance. Some people seem blessed, and others seem cursed. Most of us get some of both. I feel more blessed than cursed, that's for sure.
Last night we watched Idol and saw good performances from both finalists, but in my not-so-humble opinion, Crystal blew Lee out of the water. That girl has PIPES.
I'm still learning how to use my new phone and my new computer, and sooner or later, I've got to figure out how to use my Sony Bloggie camera. Too much technology. Teacher, may I leave now? My brain is full. Honestly, I've done far better at the phone than I expected to do, and happily, I'm doing better with typing on the laptop than I expected. This laptop has a separate numerical pad, which means the qwerty keyboard is smaller than the usual laptop keyboard. I am still wishing I could somehow grow out my fingernails and shape them into styluses (is that a word?) so I wouldn't hit the wrong key so often.
I'm trying to decide whether to sink money into new eyeglasses. The ones I got last year are fine, but my prescription changed slightly. It never hurts to have two separate pairs in case of loss or breakage. Maybe I'll try that new place that just opened up not far from here. I asked Dr. Henry about a couple of places, and she gave me some recommendations, but I've used one of those places before and was NOT happy with them.
Two of the osprey eggs have hatched, but there is one that may be a dud, or infertile. It had never before occurred to me to wonder how bird fertility worked, and even now, I confess to being somewhat mystified. If the pair mate, and then she lays three eggs, approximately two days apart, over the course of a week, and then a month or so later, the first-laid egg hatches, but the second one doesn't, but then the third one does.... How did the second egg get "missed" in this process? What will they do with it? Eventually it will rot, won't it? Yuck.
My Esteemed Spouse is playing golf today. Last week he "neglected" to use his sunscreen and came back a bit pink around the edges. He is so precious to me, and so often he puts other people first. I worry that he doesn't taken good enough care of his skin and that he'll develop skin cancer.
It's kind of funny, but I've noticed that every time I have my eyes dilated, he gets all romantic. Must be those huge pupils making me look like the cat in Shrek. :-) Today my eyes are back to normal, though, so perhaps I should work on my art projects before he gets home. I don't think either of us slept well last night. I was awake between 1 a.m. and 4:30 a.m., just tossing and turning. The bone spurs in my neck sometimes cause me discomfort, so perhaps that's the cause. Who knows.
