almost done

Oh, my goodness, I am SO tired. I've got to get out of the apartment tomorrow morning and get it clean for my guest to stay for two weeks. I've still got lots of grading to do, and miles to go before I sleep. Meanwhile, back at the farm.... well, at the house in Kentwood, Esteemed Spouse is playing golf and enjoying himself. He starts back teaching on Tuesday.

I'm trying to download a particularly funny cartoon. It's funny to me, at any rate. I know that people who haven't read Ginsberg won't get it, but since my HUGE number of readers (three? four?) are educated people, I know they'll get it. If I can get it to download properly, that is.

I haven't been home in nearly two weeks. My spouse came up last Friday evening, but that's not the same. I'm heading home tomorrow, in a "come hell or high water" mood, since obviously I am no longer willing to sacrifice my marriage and comfort to the job. At least, not this week. I am so eager to begin my long and wonderful summer, with no pressures except for those I impose upon myself... at least, I hope there won't be any.

Daniel seems happy so far in California, although the drive there really was tortured. He got so tired. I guess we should be glad that he made it without incident. They have a kitten that has taken to him, he says. My thoughts are so much taken up with his happiness and concern and love for him. I wish I could hug him right now. When he was a little boy, he'd crawl up in my lap and beg me, "Mama, rub my back." How I miss holding him in my lap.

Okay, I'm getting maudlin. Time to end this entry and try to get some work done before bedtime.
