This cartoon is so totally perfect. Once again, I am banging away at the chunk of stone that constitutes so many minds. My husband's sister-in-law is fond of posting total conservative propoganda on facebook, and I take the bait far too often. I just told my spouse that I wanted to write a Dummies Guide: How to Think. He likes the idea, but sadly, the people who would need to read it aren't capable of forming their own opinions. They've been so brainwashed by their talk-radio and Fox news talking heads AND by their conservative, usually uneducated ministers, that they simply are capable only of parroting back what they've been told. Like Rushdie, I'd have a fatwah put on me.
On a totally different topic, my two wrists have been giving me pain. I unloaded my car from all the stuff from the apartment, and in so doing, hurt my wrists and my husband's shoulder when I handed him a bunch of clothes on hangers to go upstairs. He even canceled his golf game today because his shoulder hurt. (Hey, there's an idea...! No, I wouldn't hurt my beloved for any reason, not even to curtail the golf obsession.)
Later today, we've got plans to get my car serviced and to go to Sam's Club. We always spend too much at Sam's, but it's a good place to stock up on stuff we use lots of (toilet tissue, paper towels), and it's a good place to compare prices on various things like computers. We're getting nearly as bad as my late father-in-law who, bless him, comparison shopped compulsively before spending a dime.
I finished reading a really good novel yesterday, Jodi Picault's House Rules. It delves deeply into the mind and life of a young man with Asperger's Syndrome. I'd love to see another installment so that I can find out how life goes on with this incredible mother and her two sons.
It's a cold and gray day. More rain scheduled for tomorrow, but then--if the forecast holds up--warmth and sunshine for the weekend! Yeah, baby! (I really hate Austin Powers movies, but that seemed appropriate for some reason.)
Gotta go get a shower. I have a ton of laundry to do that I've been putting off because my wrists hurt so much, but eventually I will run out of clothing and need to wash some of it. That day might actually even be today.
