What a morning! We arrived at Orthopaedic Associates fifteen minutes early, as requested. I wasn't called back until 45 minutes later. Then I waited another half an hour for the doctor. He had clearly never even looked at the MRI images, so he pulled them up on his computer (I'd never seen a computer in the examining room before) and looked at them. He disagreed with my primary care doctor and says either it's not tendonitis and bursitis, or it's that plus something else. He sent me for x-rays (done in-house) and after that, he said that I have bone spurs in my neck!
So now I have to have another MRI (Friday afternoon), and I have to be scheduled for a non-surgical adjustment of my shoulder that is treated like surgery because I have to be put under general anesthesia. While I'm under, he will move my shoulder around and break up the adhesions that have formed. (He says it's simply frozen shoulder with possible other complications connected to the bone spurs on my neck bones.)
So I am not getting the relief I was hoping to get today. I joked with my husband that maybe I should just knock back some wine and let him move my arm around. It is so painful that I nearly cried when I had to position my body a certain way during the x-rays. The doctor could see how much it hurt when he gently moved my arm around.
I had to take a day off work just to see this orthopedic specialist. I hope we can somehow work around my teaching schedule with all this other stuff.
Meanwhile, the cat continues to improve and will get his pain patch removed tomorrow.
