Another Friday has come

It's been a busy week. I tried to look at that studio apartment on Wednesday, but the guy who currently lives there was not at home, and there was no other key to the apartment. So we're going to try again for this coming Wednesday. It was cold, drizzling rain the day I met the young man who works for the leasing agency, so I was just as happy not to hang around and have to wait, but it's still irritating that I have to put off seeing the apartment. I could see through the blinds into the kitchen area and on through a doorway into a bedroom/sitting room. It looks tiny, but I don't need much.
I also called Housing on campus. I was told by a colleague that they sometimes rent apartments to faculty in Married Student Housing. However, their cost is much higher. A one-bedroom will run nearly $800 a month. Too much!
Yesterday one of my students popped by and asked if she could sit in my office and cry. I never did find out what was upsetting her, but I think she felt better by the time she left. Poor kid. She comes from what seems to be a really dysfunctional family, and she's trying to outgrow their negative influence on her. She doesn't go home on weekends--in fact, she works two jobs in addition to taking classes--and she's usually unfailingly cheerful.
We're expecting snow this weekend and next week. Whoopee. Just my favorite thing ever, dontcha know.
It was good to get home last night. It's even better to be able to laze about in my flannel nightgown this morning, sipping coffee and chatting with my husband. We talk every day on the phone and email each other several times a day, but it's just not the same.
I got my hair trimmed this week by a really good stylist at a little shop in Big Rapids. It's too short at the moment, but it'll be just right for going home at Christmas.
One more week of classes until Thanksgiving break. The students and I all need the break. I'm feeling very tired, especially since it's drizzling rain this morning and my feet are chilled. Maybe a quick snuggle back under the blankets will be just the thing to make me feel more rested. (And if it doesn't, then no harm, no foul. Right?)
