Mama's birthday

My mother was born in 1933 and died in 1993, at 60 1/2 years old. Today's photo is my mother.

Yes, I miss Mama, and I think about her often. She had good qualities, but she also was self-centered and alcoholic. Both elements were present. She was smart, funny, talented, a good story-teller, and sometimes a loving mother. More often than not, though, after she began to drink, she was insensitive, cruel, self-centered, and mean. I celebrate her, both "selves," because we are an amalgamation of both parts of ourselves.

Today is also the day I met my Esteemed Spouse, 41 years ago. I love that man. He's the best. The kindest. The smartest. The most accommodating. Can't help loving that man of mine!

I'm once again fighting the good fight against the Christian right-wingnuts. I've been called "disgusting" (among other things) and attacked for not allowing the Christian right to have its way. Too bad, brainwashed folks. I don't plan to give an inch. You've had your frickin' way long enough, spreading your bullshit with a giant shovel.
