Japanese earthquake and tsumani
What a horrible, horrible way to die! The news has indicated that the 8.9 earthquake off the shores of Japan has resulted in hundreds of bodies in one of their major cities. Even Tokyo, over 200 miles away, felt the violent shaking. The resulting tsunami has caused death and destruction, and the waves are moving toward the western shores of the U.S. Hawaii has had the waves pass over them, with little damage thus far reported, and little is likely to happen in California, Oregon, and Washington. Still, it seems that every time we hear of an earthquake, then within a few days, we'll hear of yet another one.
I'm finding myself worried, as well, about Ellie's son. She has not posted anything since he left for the Middle East. I'm hoping that his tour of duty will be safe and that he'll return home to his loving mother and family with as little trauma as possible.
The upcoming week is going to be crazy. I'm committed to the W.I.L.L. conference on Tuesday. Friday night we're bowling with my husband's department. In between, there are papers to grade, students to see, classes to teach....
At least we're supposed to have a relatively sunny day here today! It's always more bearable when the sun shines, no matter what "it" might be.
