I just talked with the department chair, and she offered me the job. It's contingent upon approval higher up, but she doesn't anticipate any problems there. (But with my luck, who knows?) The salary is $46K, not a lot more than I'm making now, but enough more that it will be a big help. Also, retirement will now be paid, so maybe one day, I can retire instead of die. :-)
Anyway, strike up the band! Ready the fatted calf! Fireworks! Parades! The old lady finally got a job!
Oh, to keep me humble: the "other school" just emailed me my rejection notice. They are losing people left and right there. Three tenure-track people are leaving, as well as a couple of others.
I guess now I really need to grade papers! Dr. S.
