And now it's July!

Whoosh! And that was June. Yesterday was my daddy's birthday. He would have been 99. It was also the birthday of several other people--Tommy's wife Teresa, Carolyn's mother (my husband's aunt) Irene, who would have been 90, one of my former students, Damari McBride. Apparently July 1 is a good day upon which to be born.

I've completed meeting the English 250 FTF class and now have grading to do. (I always blog when I'm procrastinating!) On July 13, I have a call for jury duty. On the 14th, I have a dental appointment. Then we're heading to Fayetteville. Daniel is supposed to meet us down there. Ostensibly it's to celebrate my 60th birthday. But we're also celebrating Stephen's birthday and their getting little Eli. Speaking of Eli, he's had two vet visits already. His eye got all gummy and swelled up, and the emergency vet said it was likely herpes, but the regular vet said no, just a head cold. He's certainly keeping Stephen busy and entertained.

We realized yesterday that Simon's 14th birthday was May 11. I can never remember his birthday, poor baby. It's not like I'd make him a catfood cake or anything, but I would have given him extra love and attention that day. He's hardly suffering from lack of attention since I've moved back home for the rest of the summer and my Esteemed Spouse is back from his week-long visit with his mother.

A woman I know from work (she's recently retired) likes my drawings and thinks they'd make good quilt designs. I'm flattered. She's an expert quilter.

We bought a freestanding air-conditioner for our bedroom, and so far it's really helping to keep it cool enough in there for optimal sleeping comfort. We're having to do some strange things with the casement window, but the spouse won't hear of replacing one casement window with a double-hung. I wish we could replace all those darned casements. I hate them. I'd love to know who thought it was a good idea to have a window that opened out, where rain and wind and other weather-related issues could affect it.

I'm feeling reasonably placid today, even though my darned hip has been giving me fits. If I take a step wrong, especially if I try to step even slightly to the side, it's like the ball and socket go out. I've nearly fallen a couple of times. And it hurts. It kept me awake for hours last night.

Guess I'd better get busy.
