Stephen and Heather have now gotten their British shorthair kitten, whom they have named Eli.
Like any proud and doting grandma, I can hardly wait to see more photos, hear more stories, and get to cuddle him for the first time. Esteemed Spouse and I have resigned ourselves to the likelihood that we won't ever have "real" grandchildren, so I'm turning my affections to the new kitten. Eventually Daniel will also want another cat (if he ever gets into a house where he can have one).
Esteemed Spouse is on Day 3 or 4 of his visit with his mother. (He didn't arrive until Thursday night, late, because his early morning flight was canceled, so I don't know if he's considering this his 3rd or 4th day.) So far he doesn't seem to have done much except sit around. He tried to convince his mom to get a new television to replace her ancient set (no Hi Def! I'm sure he's undergoing withdrawal), but she said no, she hardly ever watched it. She reads all the time. I would too.
My six-week class ends Tuesday, but the online class goes till Aug. 10. Groan.
I'm having a lot of trouble with my right hip. I'll be walking along, and suddenly it seems to slip out of its socket. I've nearly fallen a couple of times, and it hurts a lot. For some reason, the recliner seems to make it worse than a regular chair. I need to be more active (as well as to lose some of this weight I've put on in the past year).
Simon misses "Daddy." I tried to comb him this morning, but he would have none of it. Only Daddy combs Simon. I can pet him, I can talk to him, I can do everything else. But only Daddy has the magic touch with the comb. Simon will have to wait until Wednesday evening. Unless the flight home is delayed, Daddy will be back about 5:30. I'm eager, too! We're missing our usual Sunday morning routine: coffee, CBS Sunday Morning, comics, and sales circulars. Exciting, yes?
I just ordered a new book, The Hypnotist. Swedish authors are "the thing" right now, and this "author" is actually a husband-wife team writing as one person.
I had to go to the grocery store yesterday. My beloved left me with virtually no food in the house. Well, there was one banana, rotting on the fruit hanger. Geez. I got MY staples: yogurt, cottage cheese, bagels, English muffins. And even more coffee! I love my little Keurig pot, and yesterday I got Kcups of Cafe Mocha. Delicious!
Now I'm doing laundry (my usual Sunday chore) and trying to decide whether to drive back to Big Rapids later today or to wait until tomorrow morning. At least this will be the last Sunday I'll have to agonize about for a while.
My Blackberry cell phone is trying to give up the ghost. As a replacement, I want to hold out for a new Blackberry Torch 2. They aren't out yet, though.
Guess I'd better get busy. Time's a wastin'!
