We sold the dining table and six chairs. We sold the recliner and the red chair. We sold the two tea kettles and the baker's rack. We did NOT sell the ancient treadmill (probably every home has one, gathering dust in the basement). We did not sell the dishes. We did not sell the mission-style coffee table (but we sold the Queen Anne coffee table). We even sold two rusting lawn chairs. Today it's raining, so we aren't going to bother trying to participate in the sale. It was enough profit that I felt pretty confident ordering a rolling kitchen cart (food prep and storage) that will match my kitchen and provide much-needed work space.
Now I have to finish getting in my grades so we can order a new dining table, a much smaller and more practical one. It made sense to have a huge Queen Anne table with six chairs and a leaf when the family (i.e., sons) were nearby, but with just the two of us, eating off our laps in front of the television set, there seems to be little point to having a "formal" dining room. I'm tempted to turn the dining room into my office so my upstairs office can become a guest bedroom. Oh, well. Much to do before I get around to those chores.
Yesterday I had a meeting at eleven on campus. Then I went out to Betty's and finished moving out. Lots of trips up and down those incredibly narrow stairs. Today my legs feel tired, but it was good to have the energy to do so much yesterday.
I should be able to move into the studio apartment next week. The landlord has yet to return my email about when I can move in. I guess I'll have to phone her.
My doctor's appointment on Thursday was uneventful. All my "vitals" are great.
I received some roses from my two sons and one daughter-in-law for Mother's Day. The roses were lovely, multi-colored, and came with a pretty vase. Did I mention that Daniel has moved in with Stephen and Heather in Fayetteville? I hope that will work okay. They may all work together to get a house, which would be good. Right now, I just want Stephen to study hard for his bar exam this summer.
