Officially healed

Happily, Dr. Bielema has agreed with the physical therapist that I'm ready to fly solo. No more physical therapy, no more visits back to Orthopedic Associates. He warned me to continue the exercises for another 4-6 weeks, lest I wind up back where I was.

It's another cold and rainy day, and the weather report for Louisiana promises rain, as well. Darn it. I really was longing to see sunshine and to feel 80-degree temperatures. As the song goes, we don't always get what we want. It concerns me, also, that flying out of Michigan in icy conditions is dangerous. Flying back into Michigan won't be a picnic, either, as we'll be having snow when we return on Sunday. Instead of "out of the frying pan and into the fire," I guess it's "out of the glacier and into the iceberg." I don't want to have to drag a coat with me on our trip to Louisiana, but it appears inevitable.

My jaw is still pretty tender after the two fillings I had yesterday. Other than my wisdom teeth, which are still chockfull of silver fillings, all my fillings are tooth-colored now. Gotta have a pretty mouth, I guess. Tomorrow will be a wasted day because I have my annual eye exam at 9 a.m., and the pupil dilation will cause me to be unable to read or work on the computer for hours. But I guess I can do laundry, which is something I'll need to do before we leave Thursday morning.

My niece is back in high school now. My sister, her husband, Amber's physical therapist, and a group from Guardian Angels accompanied her, and the school is doing more to mainstream Amber. She's having to start from scratch with her high school coursework, though, since they really had prevented her from attending any regular classes almost from the day she began high school. I'm going to try to give her a good pep talk while we're down, but I don't know how beneficial it will be. Her spirit is willing, but her body is weak and getting weaker.
