Weather changes

It's quite windy today. The forecast calls for gusts up to 50 mph. The cold front, complete with up to an inch of wet, slushy snow, is coming through. Tomorrow and Tuesday will be bad, but then, the sun is supposed to return. I just went through our collection of hats, scarves, gloves, and other cold weather wear, finding items that I'd forgotten I had. To think that when I lived Down South, I had one coat that I wore maybe five times a year. And now my wardrobe isn't complete without three or four coats, various hats, different types of gloves, and boots that can handle the elements. Don't forget the handy Yak Trax, which slip over my shoes and give me traction on icy sidewalks. Whoopee. Winter is on its way.

I looked up shoulder tendonitis and bursitis on the web to see if there were other types of treatments available. Most of the sources recommended the cortisone shot. Most of them spoke against surgery. Since I don't have a tear, just inflammation, I certainly don't have anything that needs to be "repaired." My cousin Mary (an RN) certainly advises against surgery. She felt it made her problem worse rather than better. I'm just hoping with the bad weather on its way, I'll manage to avoid falling down and hurting that shoulder worse than it already has been hurt.

We tried to get out yesterday to do some errands and minor shopping, but our headcolds and the nasty drizzling icy rain made it such an unpleasant day that we gave up and returned to our nest. I did get a new coat, not a great one, just a lined trench for those rainy chilly days.

Today I've got work to do. More papers to grade. I enjoyed my conferences with my students last week, but they certainly are young people with lots of problems: drug and alcohol abuse, eating disorders, prior rape and physical abuse, you name it. My heart breaks for them, but I tell all of them that they can always come and talk to me if they need someone to listen.

Anyway, I need to get dressed and get busy.
