Looking at condos

Yesterday we drove around and looked at condos. We actually went to only one open house, and while the condo was cute, it was so tiny! I've lived in apartments with more space. We did find ourselves quite interested in some condos that are going up in a lovely wooded area, but there were no open houses on Sunday. We did pick up some floor plans, and these appear to be closer to the size we need, so we'll probably go back and look at these when the model is open. Their only drawback is that they aren't as far north of town as we'd like.

On one hand, there is much to be said for getting another house. But I do understand why my husband is more than willing to end his days as gardener/landscaper. And the set of condos we liked are more duplex-like, so there would be only one common wall with a neighbor. We saw another set that had the garages between the condo units, but these were in sets of six units, which we didn't care for. They were actually quite unattractive, with the garages taking center stage. No street-friendliness at all.

The weather is getting a bit muggier today, but I can't complain, given what's happening in the South. My two sons are both living in the 100+ range, and I saw that Dallas was predicted to be 106. Ouch! Our local weather people are acting like it's a crisis that we might actually hit 90 degrees tomorrow. We find it amusing that they gauge summer here by the number of days that hit 90. If they have more than a dozen 90-degree days, it's a hot summer. So far we've had all of one day that hit 90, and that was in June.

Tomorrow my older son starts the bar exam. It will take two days, and then he'll "get" to wait for results. My heart goes out to him. This is such a stressful time for him, but it will soon be done, and he'll be moving on with his life. Now if I could only get my younger son to embark on a path that would be emotionally (and financially) rewarding! But I know better than to press him. He's every bit as stubborn as my brother is, and like Curtis, he does better if he thinks he came up with an idea himself than if he thinks someone else is pressuring him. They are both so stubborn that they'd refuse to keep going in a positive, forward direction if they thought it was what someone else wanted for them. Smacks of "cutting off your nose to spite your face."

As much as I hate it, I've got to do laundry today. I've run out of clean unmentionables, and as generous as my hubbie is, I doubt he's willing to share his bvd's.
