I love summer. It's wonderful to sleep late, eat when I want to, sleep (nap) when I want to, go to bed when I want to. It's even better that I can spend long hours wandering around Hobby Lobby, gooing and cooing over cute things that I would never buy and put in my own home. (I can admire cute stuff without wanting to look at it every day.) I'm having lunch with a couple of friends tomorrow while Esteemed Spouse attempts golf-ball murder. "Murder" is perhaps too harsh a word. Really, all he does is maim and mutilate his clubs and golf balls, but he enjoys it so very much that I can't complain. Well, I can complain, and I do complain, but I get my trade-offs in my arts and crafts hobbies.
Gas prices are getting so high that he's going to have to start playing closer to home, though. We're well over $4 a gallon now. Maybe he could purchase a golf cart for our nearby errands? I don't think they are allowed on the roads, but it would save gas money, wouldn't it?
I don't know why I'm thinking about saving money, with Spouse at this very moment at the golf supply store. He's looking for a new golf bag. I don't think his current golf bag is more than 4 years old, but he'll find lots of creative ways to justify why he needs the new bag. Maybe I should demand proof that his golf game is getting better before I let him purchase more equipment.
One other thing I forgot to mention that I enjoy during the summer. Reading. It's such a guilty, addictive pleasure to read something other than student essays that during the semester, I feel deprived of pleasure reading, always feeling that I should dutifully be reading and marking student work. I don't have to do anything with my summer reading except read. Enjoy. Read some more. Happiness. Books, arts and crafts, sleep. That's having a life. S.
