I had a really "off" day yesterday, with vertigo and nausea related to my sinuses and ears, so I did absolutely nothing but sit. It rained most of the day, no sunshine, so I guess it was a good day for just sitting. Today I feel better, which is good, given my dental appointment later.
My poor friend Mike has had yet another spate of bad luck--his building burned, destroying many of his books, papers, his computer, etc. The campus building was historic and (judging by photos I've seen) quite beautiful. I want to talk to him soon. I also want to talk to Ellie, who by mere moments missed witnessing a shooting on the high school campus where she teaches. The whole world is off kilter, it seems.
I've really been hoping for a stress-free summer, but I have a feeling that won't happen. Oh, well. Without stress, I'd have no reason to sit hunched over my computer, stomach churning, acid building, right? Life IS stress.
But today the sun is shining. My ears are echoing with the melodic notes of garbage trucks rumbling through the neighborhood. The cherry tree at the corner of the porch was splendid with blossoms when we got back from our trip, and the pear tree hasn't yet lost its blooms. The lilac bush is loaded with fragrant purple clusters, and the rose bushes are showing signs of growth. Nature hasn't given up. Who cares if gas is four bucks a gallon? S.
