
I need to face facts--it's time for an intervention. Take away my black pen. I am addicted to crossword puzzles. I'll sit and work on a crossword puzzle when I should be doing other things--like grade papers.
It doesn't help that Norman Mailer, who just died, was reported to have begun his day with a crossword puzzle. I tend to begin and end with them. And fill in the hours in the middle.
Is there a 12-step plan for me? I'm serious. I've got to stop doing crossword puzzles, or else I'm going to get in lots of trouble from my students. Cold turkey. (a 9-letter word that begins with L --leftovers) Dr. S.
