Tornado warning

I'd just gone to bed and was drifting off to sleep when the tornado siren started blasting. So I jumped out of bed and went down to the first floor, where my Esteemed Spouse took my hand and said, "Let's go to the basement." OH, NO! Not the basement again! We'd just spent hours a couple of nights ago pumping out the flooding.

Fortunately, we did not have a lot of rain last night, but we wound up staying in the basement until about two a.m. Now today I'm groggy and fuzzy-headed, literally and physically. Predictions are that we'll have another storm day tomorrow, the day I'm supposed to be in Big Rapids at Betty's book club. I'm trying to decide whether to drive up today and spend the night at the apartment (with no air-conditioning), or wait and fight the storms driving up and back tomorrow.

My new glasses came in yesterday, and I really like them. I'd like them even more if I had had enough sleep last night. Normally, I have no disruptions when I want to get a nap, but why do I have a feeling that today, the phone would ring and the FedEx guy would ring the doorbell, and probably someone would start hammering or weed-eating or something right outside. (There are times I'd like to live out in the middle of nowhere, just for the lack of racket.)

Okay, I'm making no sense.
