A new family graduate

My niece Chelsea graduated from high school recently. She's such a beautiful girl, and very sweet. The photo included in this blog is of Chelsea and a friend of hers. Obviously, my niece is the one in regalia.

One of my former students just sent me a wedding invitation, and my sister-in-law is about to have a birthday. My older son's birthday is at month's end, and he and his wife just had their 14th wedding anniversary. June is a busy month. Here in Michigan, people are feeling alive and frisky since we can reliably exit our homes without needing coats or sweaters. The umbrella, on the other hand, has been necessary lately. I don't mind rain (as long as the basement stays dry) since my childhood in Louisiana prepared me for summer rain. Just about every day, a little shower would pop up.

I'm feeling kind of thick-headed this morning since my sinuses are stuffy. I've even been having eye pain connected to my sinuses. I didn't know such things could happen until I asked my ophthalmologist about it. My left eye (the one with the ever-present puffy spot under it) is the eye with the occasional pain, which Dr. Henry says is due to sinus pressure.

Right now on tv one of the morning shows is doing a spot on correcting other people's kids' behavior problems. Right. That's always such a good idea. NOT!! You never know what the situation is. Kids can have all kinds of health issues that cause them to behave in non-standard ways. Of course, there are parents I'd like to spank occasionally. The other day I was in some store (don't remember now), and some mother was SCREAMING at her child for being disruptive. Excuse me, lady, nobody noticed your kid, but we're all noticing YOUR disruption.

I bought some funny t-shirts to wear when we're home in Louisiana--if, that is, I dare to wear them. One of them says, "I think; therefore, I am a Democrat." I also bought a funny mug that says, "To save time, let's assume I know everything." Of course, I don't know everything, but if my brother starts in on me about politics, I just may remind him that he used to believe televised wrestling was real.
