Home from the Holidays

We got home about 8 p.m. last night, ahead of an ice storm. The whole time we were in Louisiana, the sun shone and we even saw flowers blooming, as the accompanying photo will attest. From left to right: Sally (age 47), Sheila (age 55), me (age 57), and Delmer (age 45). We're at Sally's standing in front of one of her huge bushes in the front yard.

It was a good visit with everyone. For once, Sally's house was only somewhat filthy, not totally filthy. My mother-in-law was in good spirits, and everyone was reasonably healthy. We had sunshine and almost no traffic driving to my son's house on Christmas Day. It was slightly tense with my younger son, who arrived the next day without his now ex-wife, but we soon relaxed into our old family bantering and teasing ways.

Our older son had the time, so he came with us to La. to see the relatives. Everyone was delighted to see him for the first time in years. He even admitted he should try to get down more often.

I'm still exhausted from the trip, as I knew I would be. I'll write more when I'm less "spent" (and when I'm not hearing the siren call of naptime). I'll try to post two or three more of the photos we took, especially the one of Sally's new puppy Happy. It's the tiniest little dog I've ever seen.
