There goes Christmas

The orthopedist's office called and told me about the upcoming "non-invasive surgery" that I will be having. First, this coming Friday, the 5th, I have to go to my primary care doctor's office for a pre-surgical consult (ekg and so on). Then on the 19th (my poor spouse's birthday), in the morning at some point, I'll have the manipulation. I have to return there on the 20th (a Saturday) and on the following Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday (22, 23, 24) for physical therapy. For astute readers, you will note that the 24th is Christmas Eve.

Then I have to return for a follow-up appointment with the orthopedist on Jan. 6, a Tuesday. So we have a huge (said sarcastically) time block for us to drive home to Louisiana and to Arkansas and Missouri. We'll be able to do it. We always do. But I can't help feeling angry and disgruntled that we are always the ones who have to do the traveling. We're the ones (presumably) with the time and the money.

I've been trying to grade papers, and I'm in a lot of pain. I took a couple of Tylenol Arthritis-strength, but to be frank, nothing is happening. I might as well have swallowed a couple of peas. It makes me want to cry. I simply can't continue this way. I'm getting behind on everything, and that's frustrating.
