Making a list and checking it twice

If there's one thing that stresses me out, it's having a lot to do and feeling disorganized. I used to be a list-maker. For some reason, I stopped making lists. Maybe I should start making them again, especially since I seem to be unable to remember things as I once did. There are only 11 days till my new semester begins, so here's what I need to do, in no particular order:

  • hem those pants that I've had for months and haven't hemmed.

  • clean up the Christmas stuff and get it down to the basement.

  • prepare syllabi for three different classes.

  • read the textbooks that go with the three different classes.

  • mail gifts to older son and spouse's favorite aunt.

  • send thank-you notes to folks for graduation and Christmas gifts.

  • finish those trays that I started as Christmas gifts and get them sent to people.

  • clean up the forty bales of cat hair that Simon has shed around the house.

  • get laundry done.

  • endure dental appointment.

  • make mammogram appointment.

  • make eye exam appointment.

  • clean up my home office in preparation for next semester's tornado of paper.

  • read the newest Sue Grafton novel.

  • start checking my blood sugar again on a regular basis.

I'm sure there are other things that I'll need to add to this list as I think about it. All I WANT to do is sleep, watch tv, do crossword puzzles, crochet, do other crafts, read novels--nothing that is very productive, that's for sure.

I did not have this problem before I finished the dissertation, did I? Dr. S.
