Memorial Day

No class today. I'll still have to drive up to Big Rapids later today, though. Summer session is going well so far, and I love my students.

My Esteemed Spouse and I have been trying to finish the work on the deck. We've put up lattice panels under the deck, but because bad weather moved in yesterday, we could not finish. Maybe next weekend....

I need to figure out how to send photos straight from my phone to my blog. As it is, I send the photos to my email and then save them to my computer and then import them to my blog. Surely there's a shortcut.

Stephen and Heather will soon have their new kitten. They are considering naming him Eli. I personally voted for Max (Maximillian) but one of their friends had a cat named Max.

I'm still overcome by the devastation in Joplin, Missouri. It's been a week now, and the coverage continues to dominate the news. President Obama spoke there yesterday at a memorial service. The death toll is 142, with nearly 100 still missing. A young man who had just left his own high school graduation was sucked out of his vehicle's sunroof and killed. Lots of residents of nursing homes were killed. A major hospital was destroyed and many killed there. We also had a small tornado south of here (Battle Creek) yesterday. I'm glad May is nearly over.
