It was another long week, but finally, Saturday has arrived. I did not get home until 3 p.m. yesterday. Not only was I exhausted from lack of sleep the night before (someone was doing laundry and apparently washing load after load of tennis shoes), but I'd finished a marathon of grading. (Not like I got caught up, though. That never happens.) So I drove home yesterday amid a flock of idiots (apparently Friday afternoon is Idiot Day). One woman with a carload of others in the car was much more interested in talking with her hands as she drove than in staying in her own lane or keeping an even speed.
My beloved had to spend his day at meetings, so he wasn't here to greet me. Simon was happy to see me, though. I'm not so sure seeing him was good for my health. Being gone for four days doesn't create an allergy situation, but being gone for five days--that's the magic number. My eyes watered, I sneezed, my inner ear went nuts again, my balance was affected, and I was going through tissue after tissue.
Because we had had storms and high winds all week, nothing could be done to the deck during the week, so maybe today will result in some progress. So far it's gloomy and gray, with temps in the low forties. I want to decorate for our trick-or-treaters at some point today. As usual, the weekends are too short to accomplish the things I want to get done.
The weather forecast is suggesting that we may get a little snow this coming week, so time is running out. I am not ready for snow. Not now, not ever. I've had enough snow to last a lifetime. But unless we win Megamillions or Powerball, there is no early retirement in our future!
I suppose I'd better get started with my many chores.
