My second week at Crossroads Writing Project is over, my husband is home from his mother's in Louisiana, and tomorrow is the Fourth of July.
I've finally got my studio apartment sorted out (mostly), so the video clip is of my little studio. My husband plans to spend the night with me on Monday, so I hope it isn't as hot as it was the first week. This past week, it was so cold that I had to take my fan out of the window and add a blanket onto the bed. We've had an unusually chilly past week.
I'm really glad to have my Esteemed Spouse home again. He's a bit sunburned, but other than that, he's fine. No major injuries except for what he thinks might be a spider bite from his venturing into the weeds to locate his brother's golf ball.
The cat is delighted to have us both here. He can't seem to decide whom to lavish his affection upon. He walks back and forth between us.
One major piece of news is that my mother-in-law has spoken of preferring to live with us, should she get to the point where she can't live alone. I'm honored. Of course, I hope she'll live to be 115, and I hope she'll be able to enjoy independence for a very long time. However, she has had hip problems and has fallen a couple of times, so it might happen that she'll decide to stay with us sooner rather than later. My husband did install a couple of grab bars in her bathroom so she can feel safer alone. We've been talking a bit about how we'd need to remodel the house if she came up here.
This past week was my older son's 34th birthday. He's busy studying for the Arkansas bar exam, which he'll take toward the end of the month. I can't begin to express my hopes that he'll pass this time. I've got my hopes up. He needs to get on with his life, after all, as does his brother.
If my father had still been alive, his birthday a couple of days ago would have had him reaching 96, I think.
