Today is my birthday

So far I've had a very quiet day. Got up around 8:30, made coffee, read the two cards my husband gave me, ate breakfast, watched the tribute to Walter Cronkite, wondered whether today is a good day or a bad day to go see the newest Harry Potter movie.

My sons haven't called yet. They're likely still asleep. No cards from them yesterday, surprisingly. Oh, well. I did talk to Curtis and Tina last night, and I thanked them for the adorable apple-shaped tea pot and Celtic music cd they sent me. It's great getting to become close with Tina. Now that her mother is gone, I think she needs an older woman's influence. And I'm nothing if not an older woman.

Actually, I feel pretty darned good for a woman of 58. I don't look like a Hollywood star looks at this age (no facelifts or dermabrasions or plastic surgeries of any sort), but I'm quite content with who I am, for the most part. I'm still a work in progress, still trying to become better at some of the things I don't do as well as I'd like, but all in all, I like me.

Guess I'd better get a shower and get dressed if I plan to make the early showing of the movie. Maybe I can even wheedle a lunch out of the Esteemed Spouse.
