Much has happened in the past month. I've had the first carpal tunnel surgery on my right wrist (June 29) and the other is scheduled for August 3. My older son Stephen came for a short visit (July 10-14), which we enjoyed tremendously. We did a number of things with him: Frederick Meijer Gardens, Founders Brewery, Hemlock Park, Ludington Beach and lighthouse, riverboat tour on the Grand River, and a little shopping. I miss him now that he's gone.
Tomorrow will be my 61st birthday. About all I want for my birthday is for it to rain. We have not had more than a sprinkling of drops (twice) in weeks. It rains north of us, south of us, east of us, west of us. My house seems to have an invisible umbrella hanging over it. The tree (weeping mulberry) that we planted has needed watering daily. It would be a shame to lose such an expensive investment.
Next week we're headed to Columbia, MO, to help our younger son with his dental surgery. I finally finished my own dental work (at least until Dr. Ted finds something else he wants to do to my teeth), so now I can sympathetically hold Daniel's hand as he recovers from having five teeth pulled: four wisdom teeth and one molar that one of the wisdom teeth has grown into. He's been in a lot of pain, so maybe now he'll embark on a program of better dental care.
I don't remember if I have previously mentioned that my former daughter-in-law, Wendy, is expecting a baby with her new husband. That makes me sad. Apparently I'll never have a grandchild of my own. Sigh.
Stephen and Heather have both lost a lot of weight, though. I've never seen him more serious about controlling his diet and exercising. We did not see Heather, of course, but he says she's lost a good bit, too. These two need some good news. They almost were able to buy a house, but the financing bottomed out at the last minute. That really hurt us all.
It hurts like heck to type, so this is it for the post.
