New York trip
I'm still exhausted! We walked for hours in New York. It was an incredible trip, with very little that caused unhappiness. Let's get those bits out of the way right now: I did not like the way three male tourists (Asian) laughed and talked and smoked cigarettes during the visit to the World Trade Center site. I felt it was disrespectful and rude.
I did not like that our flight was an hour late getting back on Thursday because of a fuel problem. We also had to move from one terminal to another after we'd already arrived at the first terminal. They should have notified us sooner.
But everything else was pretty darned good. We loved Book of Mormon, we liked Phantom of the Opera, we had a great time on our bus/boat tour of New York (even went to Central Park and saw the Imagine circle in John Lennon's honor), and absolutely adored the Cindy Sherman photography exhibit at MOMA. I even got to see one of my favorite Wyeth paintings, Christina's World.
We had some good meals (a bit sparse on the breakfast end, though) and did not go down to see The Today Show to wave at Matt, Ann, and Al. But we did see skaters on the ice rink at Rockefeller Square.
The first two days we were there were cold and windy, but it was nice Wednesday and Thursday. We walked and walked and walked until both of us had muscle spasms in our legs. Still, we had a great time. The hotel (Crowne Plaza) was okay, but not as spectacular as I'd hoped. We did have a shower stall instead of a useless bathtub, but the water pressure was weak and kept flexing between hot and cold. The bed was comfortable, though. We were on the 42nd floor, with a view of the Hudson River, so we got some great photos.
Now I have much catching up to do before school starts again on Monday. Alas, we have Spring Forward to deal with, which I am not happy about.
